Coyotes
Read MoreI was returning home after a visit to the Portland Audubon Society near Forest Park. For some reason I decided to take a short drive through one of the rural roads before the steep climb up to Skyline Blvd. To my surprise I discovered a pair of coyotes trotting down the middle of the road towards me, perhaps heading back towards their home too.
By the time I got my camera out and ready to take pictures the female coyote took off down the right bank. The male (seen here) stood in the road attempting to draw my attention away from his mate as she moved into the woods below and passed my vehicle. Naturally I fell for this chivalrous act and managed to get a nice photo of him. When the male saw the female was in the clear he then followed after her.
I never did see the pair in the open again, but I did see them meet up and move deeper into the woods.
